Interview w/ SinChew Daily

Yippee! Feeling SUPER hairpee and hyper right now!
The interview and photo shoot ended about 15 minutes ago, I feel so proud of myself. (For achieving a solo interview and making Onyx Ophelia Moonbeam (I just uploaded her on CakeCentral and there are 35 views and 1 Fav already! She's gonna be on the most favs in no time!) in 2 days! Oh and waking up at 7 AM, I haven't done THAT in a while...)
Singing Billionaire repeatedly in my head right now because I feel that I will be smiling next to Oprah and the Queen VERY soon, you just wait and see!

Mommy took a photo of me with Onyx Ophelia Moonbeam after the reporter and photographer left:
(It's been some time since I actually had a "real smile" and this is a real one. proud proud proud!)

Cupcake Tee! (And necklace! Try spotting it!) (And turquoise finger nails!)

Let's continue from my previous post where I stopped to take the cupcakes out of the oven...

These are the cupcakes with uber chic cupcake liners (I am pretty sure they were meant for muffins but... err... never mind!) I bought from the City bakers sale:

I had a couple of them for my breakfast! I was starved... To the BONE!
Only iced them when photographer arrived, she was late.
It was just a simple white and light pink "poo" ( I couldn't find my large star swirling tip so I had to use the round 2D tip, bleh.) swirl with my signature miniaturized rainbow rose on top, I am pretty sure you can imagine them!

Mommy took such blur photos of the interview so they are not going to be up!
Just imagine me with 2 ladies chatting and being surrounded by Onyx Ophelia Moonbeam and some cupcakes or in other words a tea party (With rather strange questions being asked!)!

So anyways the interviewer entered my very empty (Half of my room is already in my brand new caking studio in Port Dickson!) caking room and saw Onyx and the un-decorated cupcakes, she.. Wasn't impressed.
So NOT the emotion I was expecting, my heart sank... Deep, Deep down... Trallalaa

The first question she asked me was how old I was, I said 13 with a huge DUH in my head.
She should have done more research on my blog because she looked rather shocked, I know I don't look 13!

Then I talked about the deco.. Blah blah, string work, blah, billowing, blah blah blah hand painted butterflies.. Then we got to the flower.

Her: You MADE the cake?!!
Me: Annoyed face* Yessssh... (Another huge DUH.)
Her: And the decorations?
Me: Nods* (Why would a cake that isn't mine be in MY cakery?!) Yes, everything including the roses.
Her: Touches the rose* I thought it was FAKE!!
Me: (She REALLY didn't do any research on my blog about my sugar stuffies..!) No, it's made from gum paste.
Her: Wazzat?!
Me: Explains* (Question to readers: Aren't interviewers supposed to do some research about the person's interests and stuff they use before the interview? At least some basic things? Curious face*)

It was scary... Having someone so blur interview you, blinks*

She had plenty of questions about me home schooling as well, most of them were asked before by "other" people around me.

Ugh, I just wished I was interviewed by someone who would just do a bit of research to at least know what fondant is!

Snow white and Mickey

For this batch of cupcakes I decided to make the cupcakes toppers 2D and 3D in some parts, I was inspired by  some African animal themed cupcakes I saw on CakeCentral quite some time back and I finally had the chance to do them!

The cupcake toppers would be easy if you had something to copy but as for the snow white ones..
No matter how much research I did there were NO half decent cupcake toppers on the web!
Crazy!
I am so used to relying on things I find on the web so this made a PANIC! A little... I suppose!

Above:
My snow white forest woodland blue birdies.
Made some bunnies as well but i didn't get a chance to take a photo of them!
I didn't do it intendedly but it looks like that "See no evil, hear to evil, speak no evil" thing! Hahaha! Doncha think so?

Below:

Snow white!
(I wonder who designed Snow White's dress, it is the worst dress I ever saw!)
After a couple of disasters trying to copy "Snow White" from the web and the book I finally gave up and used my own creativity to make her!
That's one thing I can never be, a PHOTO COPIER!

 Above:

My first Snow White looked something like this but it wasn't plastered on to the cupcake, it looked rather snobbish and grumpy so off into the bin it went!
Since the cupcake topper was only 1 1/2" it was pretty tedious and it was rather heart brokening to see it go into the bin, oh well!

Below:

After all that panicking I remembered (Somehow.) that I HAD (I mean I still do but I don't read it anymore, obviously!) a Disney Snow white book, SOMEWHERE in our piles and piles of books!
Finding it wasn't all that tough I suppose... I just looked out for the golden spine and WA-LAH!
Was so glad I found it!
I would be VERY dead if I didn't have it, Thank you My little golden Walt Disney Snow White book for saving me! You may return to your very peaceful spot on the shelf.

Above:
The "name tags".
Both are written free-hand on gum paste with a #0 paintbrush and food coloring.
It was a pretty last minute thing so I had to do it at 1.00 AM!
Yawn! I am glad I didn't fall asleep on them!
I am pretty proud of them although I might need to work on the color combination a bit but I absolutely love creating my own techniques and writing/piping on cakes because I guess penmanship has always been one of my "Strong points".
(I used to write like printed text you find in a book when I was in Primary school! I guess I was/am a perfectionist, well at certain things!)

Above:
A few of my lucky Pluto cupcakes!

Below:
My mickey and Minnie ones!
I call this way of frosting them the "Latte way" because it looks like the layers in it!

Swathy's Cupcakes

Ouch... I am officially paralyzed on the right side of my body.
Thank you BADminton!

Despite of my aching shoulder, forearm and wrist (Basically my whole right hand and leg.. Yeesh!), I was able to make these 9 (I..Have..Never..EVER..Made..Less..Than..25..Cupcakes..In..My..Whole..Life. I am so used to having a huge batch of naked cupcakes in frost of me to decorate and now with just 9... Every cupcake is special, VERY special.) cupcakes for one of my best friends and neighbor, Swathy.

Above: I decided to decorate (And paint! See the pink-ish tinge on the cake box? Oh, and I used Wilton Pink food coloring since I didn't have any paint! Haha!!) the cake box since I can't wrap this present up with wrapping paper! I have been addicted to writing like this lately... It is just SO fun.. And colorful!

Below: There are 9 cupcakes but I only took the lucky 7 cupcakes since it looks better this way...
The cupcakes are all vanilla flavored and topped/covered with vanilla butter cream and/or fondant.
Below: This cupcake is my FAVORITE of them all! Maybe because of the rose and colors...
I made the veins very.. err.. deep? in this rose just to give it a more interesting and different look.

I guess they all turned out the way I wanted except for the butterfly printed one...
I need to improve on the dusting!

Anyway...

HAPPY 14TH BIRTHDAY,
SWATHY!!

HS Picnic @ TTDI Park

Whew! What a nice morning! (More on the afternoon side but never mind..)

It was a home school new year meet up thingy and we had pot luck...
Guess what I brought!

CUPPA-DEE-CAKES Of course!

I made a small batch of my favorite vanilla cupcakes (It is my favorite because... Because... It is just PERFECT!) in my Big Baby (That is what I call my commercial stand mixer. I some how find the size of it just right compared to my first tiny mixer. I think I like it more than I would like a KA or a Kenwood! But a KA or Kenwood as a gift is always welcome!!) for the pot luck.

My FaceBook status after I finished taking them out of the oven:

Tonight is one of those nights were I can't resist eating my right-out-of-the-oven supah fluffy, crunchy domed top, yummy, irresistible vanilla cupcakes for supper with a glass of cold milk... Om nom nom... I love my cupcake scraps :P

Yeah... I HAD to steal a few odd (I can only fit 25 into a box and I baked 30..) ones for supper!
I love being a caker you can always get fresh scraps every time you finish decorating/baking cakes/cupcakes..

Woke up earlier than usual (At 9 AM) to ice the cupcakes after they had been cooled over night.
I was thinking this in my head:
These better all be gone! If they don't I might just EXPLODE!

Well... The exploding is because I am clearly NOT a morning person, I like waking up at noon when I can.
So if they don't finish...
All my waking up early work is wasted...

They were just simple butter cream tinted a light lemon-ish yellow Decorating Tip-#1M Star swirls, sprinkled with some Arnott's Hundreds and Thousands and topped with some Wilton Fondant Daisy Shape Cut Outs flowers that were made to look like white daisies and sunflowers.

No pictures of the cupcakes! Sorry!

Well at the end of the picnic they were long gone and some participants were fighting over the last few to take home...
It was a funny-ish-ly happy moment!

Hearing the comments about them were nice, as usual...

When I wasn't talking about myself and the cupcakes (Which took up most of the time anyways...) I was eating other participant's pot luck food (Haha!!) and listening to the home school news...

It was a fun and lazy morning/after noon...

Just finished having a movie marathon on my lap top, up in my room, on a stormy evening, under a warm blanket...
Fabulous...

I HEART Lazy Days!
